Soroptimist is a global volunteer organization providing programs leading to social and economic empowerment. The name "Soroptimist" was coined from the Latin word soror, meaning sister; and optima, meaning best. Soroptimist is interpreted as "the best for women." Established in the 1920s, Soroptimist International has over 80,000 members in 120 countries.

Our La Jolla Club was chartered on May 2, 1947.  We are celebrating 71 years of service! Our Mission is to empower women and girls with resources and opportunities to reach their full potential and Live their Dreams.

We pride ourselves in helping to facilitate life transformations. Like the transformation of the butterfly, our programs support women and girls in their journey to take flight and soar to their highest potential.
